| Description: Whittier Community Theatre announces auditions for "Silent Sky" by Lauren Gunderson to be held Monday/,Sept 21 and Tuesday, Sept 22 at 7:30 pm at the Whittier Center Theater. Directed by Susan Marx.. ALL ROLES ARE OPEN. ALL AGES (18+) AND ALL ETHNICITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION. There is no pay. No Equity Union performers please. We are a non-profit, amateur theater group using a 400-seat auditorium. AGE RANGES LISTED ARE SUGGESTIONS, NOT REQUIREMENTS. SETTING: 1900 -1920 CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: HENRIETTA SWAN LEAVITT- (30’s+) A brilliant, energetic young woman with a passion for the stars. She is devoted to her work, sometimes to a fault. MARGARET LEAVITT- (30’s+) Henrietta’s younger sister. She’s a homebody and family-oriented. She is also an accomplished musician in her own right. PETER SHAW-( 30’s) He is the head astronomer’s apprentice at Harvard’s Observatory….and very interested in Henrietta. ANNIE CANNON: (40’s+) She is the terse and sure leader of the “human computers” AKA the lady astronomers at the Harvard Observatory. WILLIAMINA FLEMING: (50’S+) She is as smart as a whip, fun and funny. She’s also Scottish. | ||
