Description:

Bat Boy: The Musical is a cult-favorite rock musical with a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, based on a Weekly World News story about a half-boy, half-bat creature found in a cave. The show follows the creature, named Edgar, as he is taken in by a veterinarian's family, taught to be "normal," and struggles to fit into society, exploring themes of prejudice, acceptance, and "nurture vs. nature". It premiered in 1997 and had a successful Off-Broadway run in 2001, winning awards and gaining a reputation as a witty, irreverent, and surprisingly poignant show.
